I cheaped out when I re-uped my verizon plan at the end of last 2010 and end up with the LG Ally. My first smartphone, I appreciate all it can do, but a few things about it drive me crazy:
* It's slow. Almost anyone around me with another phone can launch their browsers and pull up a web page faster. The camera also takes forever to snap a picture and the quality of the photos is poor.
* It never linked well to my MSN email or Facebook accounts and I actually access both via the browser, not the apps, which I find useless. This could be an issue with android more than the phone itself, particularly as it relates to MSN.
* The screen is very imprecise. There seems to be a combination of my own clumsiness, the screen's imprecision and other quirks in the phone that I never quite know who it is going to call or what's it going to do!
* The call quality sucks. I don't lose calls. I just can't hear people very clearly.
* I do like the big beefy keyboard and am not too concerned about size, but after playing with a few other phones that only have touch screens, I am now convinced I can do with out a separate keyboard. I also like the calendar feature, which I have liked to a gmail account instead of MSN. Seems to work well
* Bottom line for me is browser and web page load speeds along with call quality, then camera quality, and I want it all to be as bug free and integrated as possible.
So, given all this, I am looking for advice on how to proceed. My thought is to buy something like Droid X or HTC Incredible on Ebay and just swap out my phone. I'd love to be able to consider something like the iPhone or HTC Thunderbolt (although my area does not yet have 4G), but since I highly doubt I would qualify for a new plan at this point and I am also fairly poor, these seem likely to be well beyond my reach. At the same time, I do want a clear up grade or I might as well just wait it out. Thoughts?
Thanks everyone!
